At last i’m using a necromancer on my 2 better armies because is ever useful summon zombies to attack backs, artillery, stop charges or routes However this “spec” is perfect against kaos, empire like tilean or kislev , orcs and dwarfs.

I actually think vamps are a really solid army, able to rout enemies through terror and the like, especially when you murder the enemy general quickly. I want to play another campaign using more zombies, ghouls and non skeleton units backed up by dedicated research for them.

Crypt ghouls are weak against armor though. Don’t fight Archaeon with those little guys. This stack is one I took a while to figure out but ince I discovered it, I realized that VC can beat anything with it.

It is optimized for fighting heavy infantry battle: Lord Vlad and Mannfred are best for this. Be sure to keep Winds of Death on them. Nothing can withstand this. No thats why i typed lol son. I dont even buikd 1 lodestone though they waste of a slot unless you like to blob. I like cav more and black knights are cheap and pretty damn strong they do wonders vrs dwarves which i didnt expect.

But blood knights are amazing and i love to field them. I’m not a fan of VC armies anymore. I just get bored. And MP slowly made me begin to hate their playstyle. Ah, I do love me some vamps!

Im new to Total War series – once heard of the great shogun, but didnt mind back then. This Warhammer title made me interested so I bought the game lately.

I started with the Vamps and still love them. Ive been trying different stacks and I’ve found a pretty good mix, thus decided to share with you. However I would also love to hear what stacks you know that are really good for the Vamps! Thus i think it would be a bit better with them replaced with Cairn wraiths.

Also maybe black knights could be replaced with Hexwraiths for more effect. However a wight knight or vampire could be a cheaper alternative to one terrorgheist which i use mostly for taking out large monsters and catapults etc.

For other stacks, i always have a vamp lord as Lord. I feel these stack setups have very good survivability and damage, aswell as pretty nice speed excluding grave guards. Also it has very nice effect on chance to win in auto resolve.

Since there is so many powerful units in large quantities. Loki Registered Users Posts: May I like the Wight for his tankiness and speed. Hmmm good mix. I am a miser, so I tend to go cheap. Then stack them 2 armies each and march forth.

There is no time but the present. Sciarra Registered Users Posts: May edited May I don’t really have an exact composition, but my general thoughts are: 1. First and foremost, I think a lot of the above users are underestimating Crypt Horrors. You can get them pretty early and they are great in most situations.

They are reasonably quick, tanky, regenerate, and do great damage. I’ve found them to be among the most effective units on the roster. Grave guard are good, but they are slowish and do tend to take a lot of losses especially great weapons. Vargheist are very fragile and I find Varghulf and Terrorgheist are plenty effective at taking out ranged long enough for Crypt Horrors to close. Fate of Bjuna is also fantastic for sniping ranged units.

In my experience Cairn Wraiths and Hexwraiths are pretty horrible. They are extremely fragile even against non-magic attacks. The look awesome, but underperform. Black Knights are also pretty mediocre compared to Crypt Horrors. If you are good at microing them then they are probably better. Mikewill13 Registered Users Posts: My favorite stack would be Manfred Von Carstein 8x grave guard 4x grave guard great weapons 4x Vargheists 2x varghulfs 1x Terrorgheists. What i’ve found is that Cairn wraiths really do something. This is why i prefer to have atleast one group of them.

Cavalry is a bit meh in some battles since it can be effectively ignored by using more flying units or other flankers, but if you micro it correctly and the battle area is suitable i. However i feel like i cant really micro them well, so im already thinking of switching them to vargheists and varghulfs. Ive had some great battles where i could do so much with my cav, but in some defending battles, they just melt away when i had other stuff to focus on.

I tested a bit of crypt horrors battles and found out that they are quite easy to micro, thus i will try out a heavily monstrous stack – of which i have high hopes for. I could see this very good at taking down basically anything, yet maybe not towns – not sure, havent used much other than series of GG’s, varghulfs and vargheists for these battles together with Mannfreds magic.

Well, keeping it simple, the biggest let down for me in the VC army were the Vargheists. Yes, they have a very strong charge but once they are on the ground they seem rather underwhelming.

The VC army causes a lot of units to flee but they do so early so they tend to keep coming back which can be a huge annoyance to deal with as they come back at you from all directions. What I like to do is keep at least one unit of wolves on hand to chase down fleeing enemies.

The wolves kill them much more quickly than vargheists do. In fact, the Vargheist charge often has a few of them miss with their charge as the enemy is running away from them and when they are on the ground they take down fleeing units much more slowly than the wolves do.

Wolves are by far the best bang for the buck in regards to killing fleeing units. I like them on the Chaos side too but Chaos has cheap marauder cav units so you have both options there.

You don’t have a cheap cav unit option with VC so wolves work great as the sole option for cheap units used to kill fleeing units. I love the Grave Guard units, at most though I generally only have two of the heavy weapon variation. I use them only as a flanking unit. The sword and board version holds the line more efficiently. Crypt Horrors are great for sending right through your rank of Grave Guard to frontal attack the enemy while the two handed Grave Guard maneuver to flank.

A couple units of Black Knights is generally enough to cover the flanking maneuver of the Grave Guard. At most I generally only use one unit of Vargheist to circle around and attack the enemy center from behind. Time it right to cause the leadership breakdown to happen. I prefer Crypt Horrors to Varghulf simply because there are more of them and they tend to serve the same function for me so I prefer more swings to the tankier nature of the Varghulf.

I use my VC army to break the army quickly while causing as many casualties as possible before that happens. I think the Horrors are better for that. Well if you can get one then get one. In my campaign Mannfred’s stack is a black coach, 2 vargulfs, 4 grave guards, 4 cairn wraiths, 2 hexwraiths and 6 terrorgheists lol. Glythe Member Registered Users Posts: Non mannfred end game stacks for my game were: Vampire lord vampire caster Banshee defensive agent preferably with ward armor and talisman 6x Grave Guard 7x Crypt Horrors 2x Vargulf 2x Terrorgheist Somewhere along the line I replaced all my Vargheists with Terrorgheists.

You need 4x Vargheist to be as good as 1 Terrorgheist but the upkeep comes out as double for the Vargheists. Calvary is great for nations that dont have Vargulfs but you have Vargulfs so why not use them.
