I noticed under the device manager that underneath monitor it’s using a Generic Pnp Monitor driver. Is there a specific one I should be using so that the touchscreen should function? The touchscreen will almost certainly require drivers, however these are not the same as your graphics drivers. Check Dell’s Driver Download page.

Yea the Dell page does not have any listed specifically for the touch screen. THe unknown device i’m not concerned about. Thanks Andre tried all that already. Again, I am looking for the driver for the monitor only so that the computer does not have to use the generic PnP driver.

Does anyone else out there have an Inspiron with windows 8. What does it show for the driver in Device Manager under “monitors”. Worth looking at the chipset package. Thanks John. I’ve already installed the OSD driver but skipped the two you listed above that.

I’ll try it tonight and get back to you. Most separate touch-screens normally connect by USB and require separate drivers. These appear under USB devices once installed. I would try JohnC’s driver suggestion above. No problem at all – just remember to install the Framework first before installing the Touch Suite and you should be fine after that.

I’m pretty sure the stage software is that annoying toolbar that sits on top of the desktop which I usually disable but I’ll try getting the framework installed. The software may be built into Win8, but I still think you need a input port more than a video driver Yea I give up LOL.

I didn’t want to use the touchscreen but it was annoying that it wouldn’t function when it should be. Everything else is working great though. If it’s okay, can you double-check the Pen And Touch settings in Windows 8. Click “PC and devices” then PC info. Under PC, check the Pen and Touch settings. Click Setup here and then touch the screen. After this, if the touchscreen is enabled after this, click Calibrate to calibrate the touchscreen.

I’ve been doing further research on this while my colleagues investigate this for you. If you can follow the steps that Tommype5 states in the link above, this may help with getting your touchscreen to work.

Failing that, in the Device Manager where you have the unknown device, right-click on this and select Update Drivers then follow the on-screen instructions. Does this help with the issue? How did you guys get full screen on the unit?

I have the black border and can’t get rid it of it. Tried all kinds of drivers and downloads. Any tips? This should remove the black border.
